Geelong City White U15’s

Geelong City lost their first game of the new season to Highton at South Barwon by 21 runs. In week one Alexander Verikios was the standout bowler for City after Highton won the toss and elected to bat. Alexander took 4 wickets in 6 outstanding over for just 18 runs and was only inches away from claiming a hat-trick. He was well supported by the other bowlers notably Jack Abrehart on debut claiming 3 for 14 off his six overs. Highton were all out for 137 with Brett Blair their stand out performer with 63 runs. It was a unique bowing performance by City with all players bowling at least an over each.

In response City lost 3 early wickets to the Highton opening bowlers before a brilliant stand of 80 between Jack Driver and Ben Webb put City back in to contention before Ben was out for 29 and Jack retired after making 55. Thereafter wickets fell regularly as the run rate increased and the overs began to run out as City fell 21 runs short of their target.

It was a good performance by the boys despite the result with plenty of positives, but I am sure the boys will work hard in preparation for next weeks game.

Geelong City/Guild U15’s

A tough first game for the U15 Geelong City/ Guild Saints against Modewarre. Good performances for the team were put in by Liam Crocker in our second innings making 18 not out and solid bowling by Liam Blackwell taking 3 for 20 off 7 overs.

Geelong City White U13’s

The U13 White team completed their first match of the season, with a strong win. Batting was consistent throughout the game totalling 7/134. Patrick Brice, Paddy O\'Brien Henderson, Harry McMahon, Callum McGough and Henry Collins all played important roles.
Bowling was fantastic seeing we were playing our first game, with all bowlers displaying good early form We bowled out Newtown for 36 in the first innings, finishing the game with 14 wickets in total. Wickets were shared around with Harry McMahon, Callum McGough, Leigh Stewart, Will Fitzgerald, Joel Mahoney, Cooper Hosking, Nick Watson and Jack Parrot all capturing multiple wickets.
Fielding & catching, an area that can win and loose games was fantastic considering the early stage in the year. Cooper Hosking was very strong behind the wicket and all catches were taken.
Great start to the year.

Geelong City Navy U13’s

On the first week we won the toss and elected to bowl (this was our biggest mistake of the match) It was hard early in the wet conditions and we were a little sloppy, dropping a couple of catches. After 26 overs Jan Juc were 2 for 116. We batted next and were 7 for 70 at end of our 26 overs with Ben Shelley the pick of our batsmen making 12. On the second day we batted first and Fletcher Ivermee and Zac McCollum did a fantastic job with Fletcher batting the whole 26 overs making 24 and Zachary McCollum getting 14 well made runs. We finished at 8 for 135. Jan Juc then batted and we played very well getting the last 8 wickets for 53 runs with Jan Juc all out for 165 with Tristan Lowe, Zac McCollum and Mitch Thompson all getting 2 wickets. We also took 5 good catches with Matt Lyons taking the best and Tristan Lowe getting a great run out with a direct hit (we fielded very well). Overall we played very well and got better as the game went on and the boys got to know each other. Very good effort
