Fitness sessions are being held at Eastern Beach from Thursday 21st July 5:30pm. All players of all fitness levels most welcome. Sessions will include a variety of running, boxing, skipping and general conditioning exercises.
The 1st XI will be holding a White or Creams Night Sat 5th Feb. All other players are welcome to join. Entry to White Night can be achieved by coming straight from the ground to the bar still in your whites. A full shout must be completed with you team mates before leaving the bar.
History of White Night
Whilst White Night maybe a weekly occurrence for some, it wasn\'t founded as a team event at GCCC until the season of 2004-2005. The inventor of White Night as a team activity remains unclear, with many claiming rights to the idea, but the origins of an entire Saturday evening in your whites at the bar are clear. Inspired by the likes of Knackers and Grant from the 3rd and 4th XI, propped up at the bar at 10pm, still in their whites, beer or perhaps bourbon in hand with more Coke stains than grass stains, the 1st XI hierarchy at the time saw merit in this team bonding experience. So this Saturday John Ball will put the hair straightener away, Tim Down will leave the wax in the bag and Chunkman wont get to wee on someone in the shower... we will all be at the bar, still in our whites, beer in hand united by the smell of a day in the field.

All cricket, both senior and junior has been cancelled for the weekend 16/10. The GCA has reported that most hard wicket grounds are not suitable for play.
A quick notice to all players. Some form of training will take place every Tuesday and Thursday regardless of the weather. Last Tuesday, a light fitness and recovery session was held in the clubrooms. It was pleasing for the coaches to have many players phone prior to training to find out what the program would be, however there were still a number of non attendances. For all turf players or those aspiring to be, it is essential that you notify either Graeme or Adam when you are unable to attend training.

The former Geelong, North Geelong and St Josephs star said he would focus on developing the Sharks youngsters in a bid to build the club up again. He will also dust off the whites to captain the clubs 2nd XI in a move to pass on his experience to the clubs future firsts players.
Assistant coach Adam Pitts, who will captain the clubs 1st XI, said he looked forward to taking the reigns and hinted at a role change in the batting order this season.
Ive been an assistant for a while but its always good to step up Pitts said.
Well have a different team this year. Ive opened the batting for a long time in division one but depending on how we set the team up this year, I might have a role in the middle order and give a few of the young kids a bit more of a go at the top.
Beaumont said that while the Sharks would look to develop through youth, the overriding aim was to take out the GCA 2 club championship in 2010-2011 and return to GCA 1.
Obviously theres the disappointment of going down but we want to try and move forward from that and adopt a positive approach to targeting winning the division he said.
I think its quite clear that we want to set ourselves the goal of getting back up into division one as quickly as possible.
Along the way, well try and change a few things without tinkering with things too much. Its pretty much about developing that young group because theyre going to carry us on into the future.
